Ataxia is a condition characterized by the loss or impairment of normal coordination, especially the coordination of voluntary movements of the muscles.
Ataxia is caused by a lesion in the spinal cord or cerebellum, the part of the brain that helps to control balance.
Ataxia may be caused by a birth defect, head injury, infection, drug or alcohol overdose, brain tumor, or other disorder.
